The movable and fixed jaw plates are the main wearing parts of the jaw crusher. They are generally made of high manganese steel and have a tooth-shaped cross-section, so they are called tooth plates. Their wear form belongs to chiseling wear. Due to the crushing mechanism of the impact crusher, the jaw plate wears severely during use. This article will analyze the reasons for the wear of the jaw plate of the impact crusher from two points.
First, the lower part of the jaw plate, especially the lower one-third, wears severely, while the upper part wears less. After the tooth-shaped surface of the tooth plate is worn flat, it loses its crushing ability and cannot be used. Observation under a scanning electron microscope reveals that the tooth plate surface is squeezed into concave-convex material parts, which are then pushed by abrasive particles to form a pressed tongue grinding surface. Many abrasive particle sharp corners can be seen sliding on the grinding surface, causing abrasion marks, and micro cracks can be seen on the tooth plate surface.
Second, the wear of the movable and fixed jaw plates is normal, but if the concave plate wears out in a short period of time, it is abnormal. The main reasons for this are: changes in material properties, such as fragility, hardness, feed particle size, density, etc., and the impact crusher has not been adjusted in time; the included angle between the movable and fixed jaw plates, that is, the nip angle a, increases and exceeds the normal range (18°~22°).
If the eccentric shaft speed is too fast and the swinging frequency of the movable jaw plate is too high, the crushed materials cannot be completely discharged, resulting in blockage of the crushing cavity and accelerated wear of the jaw plate; if the material of the jaw plate is not suitable, its own strength, wear resistance, and impact resistance are poor, or the contact between the jaw plate and the machine body surface is unstable, it will cause wear of the jaw plate.
In summary, the lower part of the jaw plate, especially the lower one-third, wears severely, while the upper part wears less. The wear of the movable and fixed jaw plates is normal, but if the jaw plate wears out in a short period of time, it is abnormal. Only by finding the cause of wear can solutions be formulated to allow the impact crusher to work better.
